The key upgrade in Ride1Up LMTD v2 is undoubtedly the front suspension as the new model features a SR Suntour XCM32 ATB suspension fork with 100mm of travel to offer. The original LMTD ebike has an RST Asteria air suspension fork with 80mm of travel distance. The new suspension fork will offer a smoother ride to commuters which this Suntour fork is well-known for.

Ride1Up has listened to the feedback of its customers and finally included the alloy fenders as well. Before this, you had to purchase the fenders separately which increased the cost of the ebike as well. Moreover, the LMTD v2 also offers an integrated rear light which was missing in the previous generation. So, you don’t need to pay anything extra now to get these essential accessories.

Then there are some design improvements as well which are difficult to notice unless you ride the ebike. But you’ll have a better ride experience on the LMTD v2 due to a lowered center of gravity and an improved frame geometry. If we look at the electrical components of the Ride1Up LMTD v2, there are no significant upgrades from the previous model. The LMTD v2 also features a 48V 750W geared hub motor that offers an impressive torque of 95Nm.

The LMTD v2 is one of the few ebikes from Ride1Up that feature a torque sensor. The Prodigy XC is the only other ebike from Ride1Up that offers similar specs with a torque sensor on offer.

The AKM angeled motor offers a silent operation and riding hills won’t be any trouble with the torque sensor onboard. The throttle speed is limited to 20mph on this class-3 ebike to make it compliant with the local laws. You can reach a top speed of 28mph on the pedal-assist mode.

The torque sensor on the Ride1Up LMTD v2 ensures that you get a responsive pedaling experience as the motor responds as soon as you hit the pedals. You won’t be seeing the delay in motor assistance which is normal in cadence sensor ebikes.

The 48V 14Ah Samsung cells battery offers a decent range of up to 50 miles and the BMS protection protects it from overcharging. The actual range you get on this commuter ebike depends on many factors including your weight, riding terrain, and the pedal-assist mode used. Still, you are looking at a solid 25-30 miles even if you ride this torque-sensor ebike in the throttle mode.

Even after the performance upgrades and the addition of metal alloy fenders, the LMTD v2 is pretty lightweight at just 55 lbs. The previous generation weighs around 53 lbs so the difference is not significant.

You can still choose from the same step-through and step-over options for the LMTD v2. However, there are some new colors to choose from and we absolutely love the brushed copper frame. The weight capacity of the LMTD v2 is 300 lbs.
