Aventon Aventure 2 vs Ride1Up Rift: Electrical Specs & Key Features

Torque Sensor vs Cadence Sensor:

Aventon Aventure 2 vs Ride1Up Rift
Aventon Aventure 2

Although both of these fat tire electric bikes feature a 750W rear hub motor, the Aventon Aventure 2 offers a torque sensor as well. A torque sensor focuses on how hard you are pedaling and responds in the same way.

The Ride1Up Rift, however, comes with a more common cadence sensor that measures your pedal rounds and allocates power accordingly. To make sure there are no delays in stopping and starting the pedal assist system, Ride1Up has included a motor cut-off sensor as well.

Still, the Aventon Aventure 2 offers an improved riding experience than the Ride1Up Rift thanks to its torque sensor. The torque sensor also improves the range of Aventure.2 which we’ll discuss next.

Battery Difference & Range:

Ride1Up Rift

The Aventon Aventure.2 features a 48V, 15 Ah removable battery which offers a maximum range of 60 miles on the pedal-assist mode. If you use max PAS on this electric bike, you can still get around 25-30 miles depending on your weight and some other factors.

The Ride1UP Rift comes with a relatively bigger 48V, 20 Ah removable battery, but it doesn’t translate into any significant range difference. The Rift also offers you a maximum range of 60 miles on the pedal-assist mode.

There are two factors that explain this similarity in the range between these two fat-tire electric bikes. First, the Aventon Aventure.2 uses a torque sensor which allocates power more efficiently. Secondly, the Aventure.2 is significantly lighter than the Ride1Up Rift! We’ll talk about the weight difference in the next section.

App Support:

Another difference between these two fat-tire electric bikes is that Aventon offers app support for most of its electric bikes including the Aventure.2.

So, you can connect the Aventure.2 with the dedicated app and track your rides as well! Ride1Up Rift has no such feature yet!

Turn Signals:

The Aventon Aventure.2 offers turn signals to improve the safety of riders. These turn signals are integrated with the rear lights on the frame of this electric bike. The headlight is fitted on the handlebar to light your way ahead.

In comparison, the Ride1Up Rift has integrated lights but it doesn’t have any turn signals. For headlights, we recommend you get a third-party light for improved safety during night-time riding!

Aventon Aventure 2 vs Ride1Up Rift: Other Components

Hydraulic Disc Brakes & Shimano Drivetrain:

Both Aventon Aventure.2 and Ride1Up offer hydraulic disc brakes with 180mm rotors offering a decent braking experience to the riders.

The drivetrain is also the same as both electric bikes feature the Shimano Altus derailleur with 8-speed trigger shifters.

Suspension & Tires:

There is no rear suspension on both of these electric bikes. But both ebikes feature a front suspension fork to absorb the bumps during your rides. The Rift’s fork, however, offers a higher travel distance of 120mm in comparison to the 80mm suspension fork of the Aventure 2.

The suspension seat post is also missing on these electric bikes. So, we’ll recommend adding a good suspension seat post with a comfortable saddle to make the most of these ebikes.

Both electric bikes feature 26” x 4” fat tires which are perfect for off-road conditions.

Aventon Aventure 2 vs Ride1Up Rift: Our Verdict

The Aventon Aventure 2 is our clear winner here. The luxury of having a torque sensor in an affordable off-road ebike is good enough to beat the Aventure’s competition here.

The Aventure 2 also offers a more lightweight frame, app support, turn signals, and a higher maximum payload capacity. So, the Aventon Aventure 2 is a better overall deal here.

Nevertheless, if you want to go for Ride1Up Rift, it is a decent fat-tire electric bike. The only real downside is that you are missing a torque sensor with this fat tire ebike.
